It typically affects the skin, peripheral nerves, and upper respiratory tract. Symptoms of leprosy include skin lesions, nerve damage, and muscle weakness. If left untreated, leprosy can cause permanent damage to the skin, nerves, limbs, and eyes. Early diagnosis and treatment is essential for preventing the spread of the infection and for reducing the risk of long-term disability.
