Medical Coding is the conversion of description of medical diagnosis and procedures into numerical codes. Medical Coders use these codes to complete insurance claims for reimbursement for medical procedures and office visits. Medical Coders convert these diagnosis and descriptions into codes and those codes are mainly ICD, CPT and HCPCS codes.
ICD Codes or International Classification of Diseases are set of diagnostic codes produced and maintained by World Health Organisation (WHO). These codes contain signs and symptoms, treatment received or any other abnormalities found in an patient. For instance ICD Code E34.9 denotes Endocrine Disorders.
Endocrine diseases are due to mainly of two reasons, imbalance of hormone or development of nodules or tumors in the endocrine system. Endocrine disorders includes :
