                          A Medical Coder is someone who translates the doctor's prescription, diagnosis, and whatever procedures the doctor does into universally accepted codes.  These codes are later used by billers to bill the claim for payment purposes. Billing refers to the process of raising and sending invoices to customers and requesting them to settle the dues. Invoices are documents that serve as a source of record keeping for business and as a means of requesting payment from customers.

                              Medical Coders uses a set of codes for medical coding. They use ICD, CPT and HCPCS codes for coding. International Classification of Diseases or ICD codes are used as a tool to group and identify diseases, disorders, symptoms, poisoning, adverse effects of drugs and chemical injuries and other reasons for patient encounters. For instance, H01.0 denotes blepharitis.

                                            Blepharitis is the inflammation of the eyelids. Blepharitis usually affects both eyes along the edges of the eyelids. It commonly occurs when tiny oil glands near the base of the eyelashes become clogged, causing irritation and redness. Several disease and conditions can cause blepharitis. Blepharitis is caused by multiple issues and can be either chronic or acute. Chronic cases can develop through poor hygiene. 


Common symptoms include red, itchy eyelids that may look greasy and crusted. Dry eyes also are a symptom. People may experience crusty eyelashes or peeling of skin.  

                                   Treatment include cleaning the eyelids, antibiotic or steroid eye drops and treating underlying conditions. However blepharitis tends tends to come back.
